The 180-day appeal window, explained
It's a deadline, not a waiting period.
Stuck? Skip the letters and send your case to people who do this every day.
We'll handle it for youSuspension notices often say "You have 180 days to disagree with this decision." Many people read that as "my account comes back in 180 days." It doesn't. It's the time you have to appeal. When it ends without a successful appeal, the account is permanently disabled.
Key facts
- The number varies by region and by notice. Some older notices showed 30 days. The number on your screen is the one that counts.
- Your profile is hidden for the whole countdown.
- Meta can disable an account outright with no countdown for severe violations.
- In the EU, the DSA gives you at least six months to make an internal complaint.
The plan
- Day one: screenshot, then appeal through "Disagree with decision".
- Pick a follow-up date and write it down.
- No answer by then: send the follow-up letter.
- Still nothing: escalate. EU users can go to Appeals Centre Europe, but only within six months of the decision.
Questions people ask
Does my account come back after 180 days?
No. If you don't appeal, it's permanently disabled when the window ends.
Can I appeal after the window closes?
The in-app review is gone. Outside routes such as dispute bodies or courts may remain, but each has its own time limits.
